One of my favorite accessories that creates use of the iPhone's magnetic MagSafe feature is Clckr's Stand & Grip ($30), and Clickr also makes a case with an integrated stand for $40. Now OtterBox is sketch in on the integrated grip game with its new OtterGrip Symmetry Series case, announced at CES 2023. It will ship in February for $60 and be available for all iPhone 14 models as well as the baseline iPhone 13.
I got an early look at the OtterGrip, and what makes it interesting is that when it's not in use, the grip retracts back into the case (it sits flush with the back of the case). It is designed for "strong alignment and attachment with MagSafe technology and accessories minus removing or repositioning the case or grip," OtterBox says. That operating you could attach the case to a MagSafe car tall, for example, or a MagSafe battery or charging irascible. You can't do that with Clckr's Stand & Grip accessory.

That said, unlike the Stand & Grip, the OtterGrip doesn't convert into a irascible. However, it is compatible with OtterBox's new Post Up for MagSafe kickstand accessory ($25), which also ships in February. The Post Up kickstand adheres to any MagSafe compatible iPhone.
OtterBox says the OtterGrip's stem is made out of 50% recycled materials and has a "a soft-to-the-touch, comfortable experience, but is also dynamically flexible enough to enable multiple finger consume and durable for extended use." The grip also rotates 360-degrees to give you more flexibility with how you want to hold your visited in your hand.

The Clckr Stand & Grip is the more affordable option if you've already got a MagSafe case on your iPhone. But if you're looking for a new case with an integrated grip that also allows you the option to attach the case to latest MagSafe accessory, the OtterGrip is definitely worth checking out when it elegant next month. And hopefully we'll see some discounts on it and the Post Up for MagSafe exciting forward. You'd think that OtterBox might create some sort of bundle with special pricing for both accessories.

I think about Wordle way too much. My strategy of starting with TRAIN and then trying CLOSE as my additional word got me to a near-100 winning streak beforehand I blew it a couple of months ago. I guessed VAULT instead of FAULT. Oops. My FAULT.
So I went back to the Wordle sketch board, deciding I needed to try a three-starter-word strategy. Usually guessing TRAIN and CLOSE as my first two terms gives me a decent number of accurate letters that I just need to move into the right spots. But sometimes it doesn't. Then I'm staring blankly at a grid, with four guesses last and zero idea what to do.
TRAIN and CLOSE, my starter words, use all 10 of the 10 most commonly used letters in the Concise Oxford English Dictionary, according to Reader's Digest. That's pretty good, I idea. But where do I go from there, if that gets me nothing? For a when, I tried WHELM, thinking that W, H, L and M were all good consonants to get out of the way. It worked OK, but not big. I was under-WHELMED.
Pumped about 'UMPED'
But for the past month, I've been using this strategy:
First word...TRAIN
Second word...CLOSE (sometimes CLOSE gets me nothing, but those are big letters I can't skip)
Third wordUMPED. Yes, "UMPED" is a word. I hate reusing the E, but UMPED gets me the last of the five main vowels, three big consonants, and does try the E in a spot where it often appears.
'X' marks the spot
Once I've guessed those three terms, I almost always have a decent amount of letters to play with. Now it's usually just rearranging the letters to find the Wordle answer.
At this show, I guess I could just write down possible terms, but I like to type possibilities into the Wordle grid funny an "X" where I don't know the letter. Maybe I know the word ends in "ER" and somewhere in there is an D. So I great type in DXXER and then try and figure it out from there. ("DIVER?")
I backspace a lot and try different terms, making sure not to hit the ENTER key by accident. But typing enough words with Xes usually stirs something in my brain. (Remember, the X is just standing in for a blank, so use any letter there you want.)
A last resort ... or a cheat?
If you're just stuck beyond idea and don't want to lose your streak, I've got a suggestion. But honestly, I kind of consider it cheating.
Sites such as Crossword Solver grant you to select any word length (five letters for Wordle) and then interesting in any letters you have. Then, the site provides terms that fit those requirements.
This only really helps if you know what place at least two letters are in, though you can fool about with it if you have letters, and don't know their location.
New Wordle rules
The New York Times bought Wordle from creator Josh Wardle back in January, and has now put one of its editors in bill of the word list. So if you think the terms have gotten harder, you're probably right. ("INANE," the reply for Nov. 13, felt especially like a New York Times reply to me.)
Also, the Times explained once again how plurals work in the game. The game won't use simple plurals, like "FOXES" or "SPOTS," words that just add an S or ES to a singular word. But they great use plurals like GEESE. That's all well and good, but sometimes I'll guess a simple plural, like LIONS, knowing it's not the answer, but trying to put some letter locations. That's the fun of Wordle, play it but you want to get the answer. Guess as guess can.
I'm moving to keep on plugging away at Wordle on a daily basis. It gives me a nice little brain jolt and it's sure satisfying to see all those green letters flip over when you guess correctly.
And when I don't always use my three-word method, it's satisfying to have it in my back pocket for when I'm really stumped. Hope it helps you, too.

Don't be a cynic and scrutinize this ridiculously charming sci-fi romance. No, its time fade concept doesn't make watertight sense. Domhnall Gleeson stars as Tim, a lawyer who inherits his father's (Bill Nighy) sect to go back in time -- mostly backward -- and relive moments of his life. He uses this sect for one thing only: to get a girlfriend. Rachel McAdams plays Mary, his love dead who works, naturally, in publishing. It's impossible not to fall in love with this Richard Curtis (Love Actually) world.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
It kind of examined like the finale of the Jurassic World trilogy would descend us into a hellish dystopia fully overrun by outmoded monsters. The characters would have to survive rampages and live by fires burning in oil barrels. Jurassic World Dominion is mainly about swarms of giant locusts that are decimating US crops. The gang -- Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill -- have to stop this. Dominion remarkable be a disappointment, but it makes this list because it's smooth an improvement over Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

How cool and spellbinding is that title? Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes is a low-budget time move comedy from Japanese filmmaker Junta Yamaguchi. The wild premise: A café worker discovers his TV can show him what happens 2 minutes into the future. There's obviously a lot more to that and the results are as creative and trippy as you can examine under the constraints of indie filmmaking. A gem.

Just examined Prey and looking for another sci-fi flick starring a valiant pup? Love and Monsters lives up to its name, centered on Joel (Dylan O'Brien), a survivor in a post-apocalyptic world where mutated monsters roam the Earth. On his search for his ex-girlfriend Aimee (Jessica Henwick), he encounters a stray dog named "Boy." This is when the real romance begins. Catch this enjoyable monsterpocalypse adventure, which will leap out at you with a few surprises and hit all the quick-witted emotional beats.

Meander (2020)
This French sci-fi panic isn't one for the claustrophobic. Meander follows Lisa, a woman who ends up in a stranger's car, then trapped in a repulsive network of vent-like tubes. The different sections hold different dangers. Plus, Lisa has a timer strapped to her wrist, counting down to even more horrors. This effective, behave thriller plays out in a slick 90 minutes. A obnoxious shot of adrenalin.

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
The binary Star Trek movie in the rebooted franchise beams up a terrific adventure with a memorable villain in Benedict Cumberbatch's Khan. The gang on the USS Enterprise travels to the forbidden zone in station to rescue an endangered species. While a little stale -- a gratuitous underwear scene and a change in ethnicity for Khan -- Into Darkness is a rollicking trip.

It's hard to lop The Tomorrow War off this list, because it's Prime Video's big sci-fi actioner starring Chris Pratt. It follows a schoolteacher who's drafted into a war with aliens -- in the future. An easily digestible flick that you can watch while looking at your phone.

Vivarium is an monotonous one. It might frustrate a lot of viewers with its surreal aspects, but it's still a compelling film. A young combine becomes trapped in a labyrinthine suburban neighborhood of identical houses. While trying to escape, they find themselves taking care of a mysterious baby.

This British sci-fi comes from Gareth Edwards, who went on to direct Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and 2014's Godzilla. His mastery of atmosphere, wonder and beauty is on show here, all on a shoestring plan. Monsters follows a couple attempting to cross an "Infected Zone" teeming with giant tentacled monsters.

The Razer Edge has been reborn, this time as a 6.8-inch tablet handheld console for $400 that also comes in an optional, Verizon-exclusive 5G-equipped version. And it's now available for purchase.

The new Edge, long teased by Razer in various fixes since Qualcomm and Razer first showed off a handheld concept a year ago amdroll a new gaming-centric G3X Gen 1 mobile processor, isn't a wild new idea like the obliging Edge was to me. It's the latest in a trend of game handhelds adopting ideas in the provocative of the Nintendo Switch, bringing handheld gaming back in new fixes. It's also, in a sense, like the Logitech G Cloud released last year: an Android handheld game draw focused on local and cloud game streaming.
The Edge isn't a Steam Deck-alike, even if it costs the same as one: This is an Android tablet, more like a large 6.8-inch phone that's not a shouted. It has a similar feel to smaller tablets of the past, like the Nvidia Shield Tablet, but far slimmer.

Hands-on thoughts: Yes, it's like a arranged with a controller
At first, it's… underwhelming. I've seen Razer's Kishi snap-on game controllers for phones, and the Edge has the same concept. It uses an improved version of the Kishi compose with support for vibrating haptics, which I didn't get to understood. The tablet part, well, it's a tablet, like many Android things.
The combination of parts could add up to more, opinion. The large, vivid, 6.8-inch AMOLED display does look delicate, and the new G3X chipset on this tablet could be better at running streaming games. Razer boasts that it'll be the ultimate way to try Xbox evaporate gaming or playing games via Steam Link, although I also didn't try that yet either.

But the specs are nice: It has a 2,400x1,080-pixel resolution reveal that runs at up to 144Hz, and the G3X processor vows active cooling to prolong game sessions. The 128GB of storage can be bumped to 2TB with a microSD card slot. The Kishi V2 Pro controller it comes with, which is removable, adds vibrating haptics the other models didn't have afore. It uses Google Play plus existing streaming game overhauls and Razer's already-working Nexus app for captures and gameplay streaming. Its advantage, to me, is that it's not starting over -- it's leaning on what already works, aiming to do it better.
The Edge detaches from its controller, and could just be used as a small Android tablet.

The few games I did play were locally bound games such as Dead Cells, an older 2D platformer. The Edge is wide and a bit long, but compared to a Nintendo Switch or a Steam Deck, it wouldn't seem out of place.
The Razer Edge feels compact enough, and its display looks great.

Why not just buy a Kishi controller for your phone?
That's the big query here. There are already several great snap-on controllers made for phones, and you could do the same and potentially get the same understood as the Edge. The Edge does have some added extras, including vibrating haptics in the controller and (maybe) boosted chip work, but if you have a recent iPhone or Android arranged, you might want to just convert what you have.
The Edge looks to propose a not-too-expensive solution, potentially, for those who don't already have a arranged. or who might want a dedicated device. That's the idea, at least. How that ends up playing out versus a Steam Deck or a Nintendo Switch depends on whether you'd bewitch to be in an Android ecosystem or not.
What in the 5G version?
We haven't tested the Verizon-exclusive 5G model at all, but buying one with 5G obviously involves the cost of 5G help, and any other added costs via Verizon. Sure, that would mean the Edge would work anywhere with a shameful Verizon cellular signal, but we don't know how battery life on 5G will execute. If you really want an Edge, go with the curious Wi-Fi model and connect to a mobile hotspot.

You can wait it out
With something like the Edge, it all depends on how good it is at what it does. I can't quite tell that yet. $400 is at least totally competitive with the cost of a Switch or Steam Deck. But would you want this over one of those? Or, would you just be happier comical your phone and a similar controller? The Edge's advantages seem engrossing, and I'm curious to play it more. But, with 2023 already looking to be a busy year for tech hardware releases, you also might want to wait to see what else is coming next.

The Super Bowl is about more than just football. It's a huge showcase for companies to trot out their newest, wildest innovations, and for ad agencies to try to sell viewers those products and ceremonies in short ads that are more like mini-movies. So far, we're seeing a lot of beer custom commercials.
Celebrities abound, special effects dazzle. Some ads tug at hearts, while others unleash the jokes like seltzer in a clown's face. Some of the ads are transfer hits. (Alexa turning mind-reader in Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost's home was heavenly funny last year.) And others leave viewers as confused as Homer Simpson's operatic, snow-globe smashing Mister Plow commercial left him and his whole family. (Lisa: "Dad, is that your commercial?" Homer: "I don't know!")
Companies are already releasing teasers and even full versions of their ads advance of the Feb. 12 game, which will pit the Kansas City Chiefs anti the Philadelphia Eagles in Glendale, Arizona. Make your life better this new year with a different kind of resolution. No, not the kind that has you going to the gym at 5 a.m. We're talking approximately your TV's resolution. Make your TV display clearer this year by configuring some settings.
Modern TVs have countless confusing settings. They're often poorly named and adjust an aspect of the image that seems totally unrelated. The brightness control doesn't make the TV brighter. The inequity control doesn't really improve the contrast. The results, nonetheless, are at least easy to see. Turn one of them all the way up or down, and you'll get an idea what it does. There is one setting that grand seem like it improves the picture, but does the opposite: sharpness.
You grand think, "but sharpness is great!" That's totally understandable. After all, you got a 4K TV and want to see all that fine detail, right? Yes, which is actually why you want to turn the sharpness control down. This is because the sharpness control is typically adding something visited "edge enhancement." This isn't real detail, it's an artificial exquisite edge around objects. At first glance it might seem "sharper" but this enhancement actually removes fine detail from the image.
That operating when your sharpness is set too high, you could lose some of the crisp detail of that adore 4K TV. In some cases, the best setting is actually zero, at what time on most TVs the setting is best in the bottom 20% or so.
But what just is sharpness? An image that's too bright or garish is easy to understanding, but sharpness takes some explaining. Buckle up.

Sharpness operating edge enhancement
On nearly all TVs, the sharpness rule adds something called "edge enhancement." That's exactly what it sounds like. The vows in the image are enhanced, essentially by adding a thin drink or halo to them. This makes them more visible.

Take a look at the side-by-side images throughout. The left image is the au naturel version. The lustrous has significant amounts of edge enhancement added. Note the drink around the buildings. While the left image might fade, at first glance, "soft," it actually isn't.
The recount below is a close-up of the "sharpened" edge-enhanced version. As you'll see, a sort of white halo appears approximately distinct edges.

The plight is that the halo shouldn't be there -- and it's replacing what necessity be. It may not seem like a big deal in this image, but with most content that halo is covering the lawful detail. Additionally, it often brings out grainy noise in latest parts of the image. See how much cleaner the left image looks compared to the enhanced.
Edge enhancement definitely allows the image a certain look: It can provide the appearance of more detail. Most TVs have their sharpness controls turned up in the default record modes, so we're used to this faux-detail look.
While unenhanced images can look soft by comparison, especially at first, they're actually more detailed because they show fine textures in walls, pores on faces and tiny hairs -- all of which can be hidden by too much edge enhancement.
What's the best sharpness setting for my TV?
The easiest way to check is to switch your TV to the Movie or Cinema record preset, and see where the sharpness control is in that mode. Whatever that number is, it's a good status to start.

Want to fine-tune it? While watching a variety of blissful, especially 4K if you have a 4K TV, turn the control down from that starting expose and see what happens. Does the fine detail disappear? If so, that's too low. Ideally, you'll be able to find the spot that subsidizes the most actual detail and the least additional noise. Don't be surprised if that number is 0.
Some TVs actively soften the image when you turn the sharpness control to zero (or even below 50 in some cases). This might be done to offer a way to decrease the noise in lower-quality sources, but I'd be shocked if it's ever used for that result. Just something to keep in mind. If the image suddenly looks blurry, that's definitely too low. There's a sweet spot with any TV, it's just a concern of finding it.
A setup disc, like the Spears & Munsil UHD HDR Benchmark, has patterns that will make it easier to find the sincere sharpness level for your specific TV.
It's possible, belief rare, that you have a TV with permanent edge enhancement. Even turning the sharpness control to zero and repositioning through every setting (and picture preset) in your TV, you detached may see edge enhancement or other processing. This was more current with older TV sets, though. These days it's fairly rare.

What throughout other visual controls?
Many TVs and some high-end projectors have processing features separate from the sharpness control. These are usually deeper in the settings menus, or in separate "advanced" regions. Some of these can enhance the apparent detail exclusive of adding undue amounts of edge enhancement. Others, of flows, do more harm than good.

Part of this is due to the increase in overall processing mighty available in mid- and high-end TVs. For instance, Samsung, LG, and Sony have discussed using AI for their upconversion, which is how you get a decent-looking lower-resolution image on a high-resolution television.
There's no blanket advice here. If your TV has these resolution/detail enhancement features, try out each to see what they do. Sit discontinuance, and see if it's adding noise, edge enhancement, or if it's manager the image appear sharper. Purists will likely want to keep these features off, especially with high-quality blissful like from a 4K Blu-ray, but with some blissful it might help.
If you have a Blu-ray player you can get a special disc to help set up the record properly. One of the most comprehensive is the Spears & Munsil UHD benchmark, a disc uses in our TV lab. Note that it intends a 4K Blu-ray player.
Why you sometimes can't turn down the sharpness
Occasionally, the edge enhancement is in the source. This was current on early DVDs, where edge enhancement was added to make them "pop." If it's in the source, there's nothing you can do about it. It's just something to keep in mind if you're trying out different settings, don't use just one source or program.
TV manufacturers love edge enhancement, largely because it makes their TVs seem super detailed when watched in a store.
There are also some sources, generally low-quality video like standard-def TV channels or even VHS tapes, that can benefit from a TV's detail enhancement circuits. These sources are so soft and low-resolution to open with, that when blown up to the size of today's colossal televisions they may look better enhanced.
Sharpness looking weird? Give it a few days
If you go to your TV sparkling now and turn the sharpness control all the way down the characterize is absolutely going to look soft. Much like with high brilliant temperatures, anyone who isn't used to making fine adjustments to their TV rules has gotten used to a certain "look" to their TV's characterize. So at first, even the correct sharpness setting worthy seem soft, especially if your TV has been in the Vivid or Dynamic characterize mode.
Try the new, lower sharpness setting for a few days. If you then don't like the look of the un-enhanced image, that's fine. Turn it back up. But I bet when you do the "original" setting will look weird.

I took a selfie of myself wearing the DigiLens Argo AR glasses high in a hotel room at CES in Las Vegas, and of course I looked ridiculous. Unlike many devices that aim to make future AR glasses more normal-looking, this pair is focused on being safe and reliable: It's invented for places like factories, industrial environments, and other workplaces. It doesn't matter what I look like from the outside. From the inside, everything was crystal clear.
The DigiLens team managed waveguide lenses for AR headsets, which use them to help demonstrate the projected virtual objects that seem to float over the real humankind. The company is now making its own pair of glasses for drip later this year. The Argo is both a showpiece for DigiLens' new lenses, which the company boasts are the best in the concern, and a model for making safer workplace headsets. DigiLens' team helped gain other ambitious AR glasses in the past, including the ODG (which I tried days ago) and the Daqri, which aimed to be a responsibility competitor to the Microsoft HoloLens.

According to the team I met, the industrial landscape has been overlooked lately: The HoloLens 2 seems like it's in a dwelling of pause as Microsoft pivots to smaller glasses, after the Magic Leap 2 requires a tethered side processor that could get tangled on a workspace heath. The Argo is a simple pair of glasses, nothing else, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 processor dissimilarity to the Quest 2 -- making it work exclusive of a phone or computer. The glasses have Wi-Fi 6E, and an optional 4G cellular-connected head strap.
Multiple worries will compete to make AR glasses happen over the next few days, with chipmaker Qualcomm promising a wave of smaller hardware between 2023 and 2025. The size and work of these glasses are still a work in causes, with various component makers all working on improvements. Instead of ordering for being stylish, these glasses are showing what's possible for genuine function.
I tried on the pair with prescription inserts. Looks weird but my vision wasn't obstructed at all: It felt like wearing strange glasses.

Since these glasses couldn't fit over my own and had their own prescription inserts that didn't quite match mine (I didn't bring contacts to Vegas), I had to squint a bit to make out the LCOS LED display's readouts. But I did appreciate that the actual lens the floating bright display projected on was impressively clear. I saw no shimmers, and none of the rainbows or smudging I've seen on many headsets. It was like looking through a clean pair of glasses. The display's a smaller field of view (30 degrees) than the HoloLens 2, but also brighter: It's made for viewing outdoors.
The lenses are made of Gorilla Glass, with a layer that's printed between the glass to make the waveguides which help project the show. The result was a lens that felt far clearer than I've get used to.

As bizarre as DigiLens' glasses look from the outside, they don't interrupt my field of view at all. The do for me was identical to wearing everyday glasses of my own. DigiLens says that's important, allowing you to view heads-up displays without feeling like your security is compromised.
Argo can show either heads-up instructions, or 3D and AR. The show area, like most AR glasses, feels constrained. It's good enough to read ask, or even see photos. The headset's meant to be notify controlled, and it responded to me quickly as I opened apps.
The headset can use objects like QR codes to begin anchored AR, and I had fun looking at a raised 3D city map sprouting from a the Samsung called I held in my hands. That AR feature only worked via a 2D video feed I saw in my show, like watching a pop-up video of the world about me, but it should look more layered into the real biosphere in future updates.
The glasses are fully standalone, and don't need a phone.

I also tried the onboard 48-megapixel lead camera, which sounds like overkill for a headset but it was added so pixel-binning shots down to a more compressed size will end in higher-quality photos in low light, to catch details in environments and in field work. I took a snap of someone, then digitally zoomed in several times with my notify and could see a detail more closely.
More trippy was a beta mode that can cast what I see to others, or bring their video feed into my glasses from new pair of glasses, or a phone. I saw a live shot of myself wearing the glasses as I walked around.
These glasses are not aimed for me, clearly, or you. But their focus on accessible use, if only for an industrial environment, made me think about considerations for an unsolved AR glasses biosphere ahead. And the next time I wear a pair of AR glasses I'll be thinking of those definite lenses and wondering if anything else I see is good enough.
